WillyFred is enjoying his new diet, which includes hay, apple and banana; the hay to approach the difficulties of his long, inward-growing back teeth. Such is his genetic fate as the runt of his litter.

Well done!
(You ask) How to work with this? The quick answer is: keep going. Persist. This is a beginning, so keep going.
Wise not to trust the intellect, and good to trust the sense: don’t lose this.
We are not the animal we inhabit. We are not our thinking. We are not even our feelings. But we have a relationship to/with all of these. The practice of self-observation, without judgment, cultivates a sense of separation between who and what we are: between the functions of thinking, feeling and physical behaviour; and the person nominally in charge.
Initially, the practice is one-part-of-us looking at other-parts-of-us. The Observer is a construct in personality which, in time, becomes an instrument through which something of us which is more substantial, which is more who we really are, may begin to directly see the creature we live inside, and the creature’s impulses, drives, ambitions, and how it behaves in various situations; all this impartially, as if we are getting to know our errant Best Friend.
What has changed? Probably, you’re getting to know your Best Friend a little better!
